Abstract:

This paper offers an overview of a recently born vast research project that results from the confluence of three lines of research: Spanish patent history, Cuban commercial history and the modern history of technological globalization. More specifically, this paper studies the nature of the Cuban innovation system through the analysis of the functioning of the Spanish patent institution at the colony.
