I teach courses on global history, environmental history, history of technology and economic history. I also teach graduate students at the master and doctoral levels, particularly those interested in Latin American and Caribbean history.
I have lectured and supervised undergraduate and graduate students for over a decade, both in Spanish and English. In all of my teaching, I stress the analysis of primary sources and student authorship of original work. I teach interactively, fostering debate and interweaving lectures with class discussions of texts, images and films. I also encourage students to expand their research skills with trips to libraries, museums and archives and to hone their presentation skills by presenting their findings to their classmates.
